Living with Alzheimer's or other related memory disorders can be just as difficult for families and caregivers as it is for the individual.

For the caregiver, the In-Home Aide Respite program provides time away from the stress and demands of caring for someone with early to moderate stages of memory loss.

For the care recipient, the program provides a qualified In-Home Aide to care for them during the respite.

The Jackson County Department On Aging provides this program for the residents of Jackson County through Home and Community Care Block Grant funding, State Caregiver Support funding, client and private donations, and county contributions.

To be eligible, the caregiver and/or recipient must be sixty years of age or older. The caregiver can not be paid for providing care. The care recipient must need assistance with their personal needs and/or home management needs. The care recipient must need 24 hour supervision to be safe at home.

Upon enrollment, the program director, a registered nurse and the caregiver will assess the care recipients needs and outline a plan of care for the In-Home Aide. Also, at enrollment, the length and frequency of visits will be determined based on need and availability of funding.
