Living with Alzheimer's or other related memory disorders can be just as difficult for families and caregivers as it is for the individual.
For the caregiver, the In-Home Aide Respite program provides time away from the stress and demands of caring for someone with early to moderate stages of memory loss.
For the care recipient, the program provides a qualified In-Home Aide to care for them during the respite.
Funding is provided by:
- Jackson county
- The Home and Community Care Block Grant
- Contributions made by private, communtiy and civic organizations.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Caregiver and/or recipient must be a resident of Jackson County
- Caregiver and/or recipient must be sixty years of age or older
- The caregiver can not be paid for providing care
- The care recipient must need assistance with personal needs and/or home management
- The care recipient must require 24 hour supervision to remain at home safely
Upon enrollment, the program director, a registered nurse and the caregiver will assess the care recipient's needs and outline a plan of care for the In-Home Aide. Also, at enrollment, the length and frequency of visits will be determined based on need and availability of funding. Respite services are monitored by the program coordinator and registered nurse on a routine basis.
