Project F.I.R.E. (Fuel Intervention for Rural Elderly) is a project to provide firewood for cooking and heating for low-income elderly whose only source of heat and cooking fuel is wood. Several times in the fall and winter months, volunteers come together to cut up and split trees donated by T&S Hardwood Company. The cut and split logs are then loaded onto pick up trucks and delivered to the elderly who need this firewood as their primary fuel source.
Call Ben Friddle at 828-586-8562 to volunteer to cut, split, and/or deliver firewood to seniors in the fall months. Volunteers cut and split logs to deliver firewood to elderly folks in Jackson County.
